FOIA Records & Information Management Specialist

About the role

The position provides Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) administration support for the Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay, focusing on compliance and efficient processing of FOIA requests within the Department of Defense environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage classified and unclassified records in accordance with Army Information Management guidelines (AR 25-1) and federal disclosure laws.
• Process, track, and redacted FOIA requests using Redact Express and the department’s FOIA management system.
• Coordinate document searches, review responsive materials, and ensure proper application of FOIA exemptions.
• Provide FOIA‑specific training to action officers and support the development of action plans for new cases.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience processing FOIA requests and performing redactions.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to handle sensitive government information.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple stakeholders while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Redact Express.
• Experience with document management systems.
• Microsoft Office Suite competency.
• Familiarity with SAFE system.
